Kappa Sigma’s leadership team gathered in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 18 for the Fraternity’s quarterly meeting of the Supreme Executive Committee (SEC) as well as leadership training with undergraduate Brothers and volunteer advisors from across the southeast.  Fraternity leaders – including from the SEC, Endowment Fund, five members of the Undergraduate Advisory Committee (UAC), nearly ten Commissioners, and headquarters staff  – discussed a highly successful start of the academic year with multiple areas of excellence highlighted as the fall semester hits its midpoint.

Fraternity leaders discussed a range of topics, including and most notably the continuation this fall of the Fraternity’s historic recruitment (Champion Quest) efforts across America, where the membership recruitment domination by today’s undergraduates Brothers is keeping Kappa Sigma the most preferred Fraternity in North America.

Leaders also discussed massive increases in the number of alumni choosing to become volunteer advisors and mentors to undergraduate Brothers, including the addition of over 350 new alumni volunteer officers working with and mentoring Undergraduate Brothers across North America, bringing the total number of positions filled by volunteer alumni to 1133. Other topics highlighted include continued strong focus and growth on Ritual Proficiency, Chapter development through Brothers in Action programming, and major upcoming initiatives, including November’s Military Heroes Month, where over 150 Chapters are expected to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for military and veterans-focused charities.  Attendees also received updates about the incredible ongoing success of the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund’s Legacy at the Lawn Campaign to complete the Headquarters campus in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“Supreme Executive Committee meetings have become an amazing opportunity for growth, development, and Fellowship,” said Kappa Sigma’s  Worthy Grand Master Adam Poe. “These weekends are an incredible opportunity to engage with our undergraduates, strengthen our volunteers, and dream big about the future. This was an amazing weekend to be a Kappa Sigma.”

“I had a great time networking with some of the SEC members about how and where to continue to grow my Chapter,” added Harrison Irby, who attended from the Lambda-Delta Chapter at the University of West Georgia.  “I learned a lot from the local Chapters….new resources from other Chapters are always very helpful.”

WGM Poe also presented the inaugural Justin Constantine Courage Award to Brother Shawn P. Collins, (Psi, University of Maine, ’86) District Grand Master for the South Georgia District for both his unwavering commitment to Kappa Sigma and his remarkable example of strength and devotion.

This biennium, SEC meetings are taking-on a new format which includes extensive training, networking, and fellowship with undergraduate for alumni from across the region, in addition to the governance and operational work of the organization. The next SEC meeting will be held in Dallas, Texas on January 31. All undergraduate and volunteer alumni Brothers are welcome to attend.
