Many of our Kappa Sigma Chapters support the Military Heroes Campaign by holding fundraising events. Here are a few examples of some successful events held by our chapters:

Each spring, the Brothers of Epsilon-Rho invite their campus Greek community to compete in their Greek Music Awards competition. The Greek Music Awards involve Kent State fraternities and sororities making parody music videos that are then viewed at the awards show, where winners awarded trophies on the basis of video production and fundraising. In 2019, the event raised $27,000, which was donated to the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign and the Greater Cleveland Fisher House.

On Sunday, February 23, 2020, the Brothers of the Xi-Rho Chapter at Stockton University held their 18th Annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Military Heroes Campaign. The event first began back in 2002 when brothers wanted to host an event to raise money for the chemotherapy bills for a family member of an undergraduate. The event is now one of Stockton’s largest philanthropic events, bringing together the Stockton community at Stockton’s Atlantic City Campus to enjoy the beach, play lawn games, and “Take the Plunge” in support of the Military Heroes Campaign. Over the years, the event has grown exponentially from the 2017 Polar Plunge raising $4,000, the 2018 Polar Plunge bringing in $10,000, the 2019 Polar Plunge raising $14,000 and now, the 2020 Polar Plunge raising more than $25,000 for the Military Heroes Campaign.
As a staple event on Stockton’s campus, Kappa Sigma’s Polar Plunge brings together friends, families, pets, and brothers from all around the area to raise money for such a great cause. The Brothers are forever grateful for the support that has been received over the last few months to help nearly double last year’s total and raised for than $25,500 for the Military Heroes Campaign.
The Brothers of Xi-Rho would like to send a special thank you to all of the community partners, the Stockton University community, the New Jersey District Kappa Sigma chapters, and Kappa Sigma chapters from around the country for all of their support for this event and helping the Xi-Rho Chapter not only hit their goal of $20,000 for their chapter’s 20th Anniversary but blow it out of the water and raise $25,520 for the Military Heroes Campaign.

Xi-Beta Chapter established its Military Heroes 5k which is held annually along the historic Charles River. The event adapts the charity run concept to help benefit the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign in 2019, the event raised $11,000 for the Military Heroes Campaign.

The Alpha-Lambda Chapter at the University of Vermont held their signature 11th Annual Sleepout for Soldiers philanthropy event in February. The event involves brothers sleeping outside their chapter house in the harsh Vermont winter cold for 24 hours. The temperature got down to as low as 4° but that did not stop them! This year they hit their goal and raised over $15,000! The Alpha-Lambda Chapter would like to give a special thanks to the University of New Hampshire and SUNY Oneonta chapters who helped support the event and also to all those who donated or those that helped raise money.
