The Sigma-Iota Chapter (St. Norbert College) recently held a service retreat at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, a year ’round recreational and educational center owned and operated by the Greater Green Bay YMCA. The chapter had 17 undergraduate members along with five alumni attend the retreat. The camp only has one groundskeeper and relies on volunteer service to maintain much of the camp. Sigma-Iota spent the weekend completing various tasks around the grounds including; clearing cross-country skiing trails, leaf blowing the cabin roofs, splitting a large pile of wood, hauling wood to the cabins, trimming brush around the cabins and filling potholes on the camp road. Each member accumulated 12 hours of service!
The evenings consisted of Brotherhood activities that allowed undergraduates to explain what the Fraternity means to them, why they’re glad their fellow Brothers joined, as well as what each member thought that they could do to contribute to the group in the future.
This was the first retreat like this for Sigma-Iota and the camp has already invited the chapter back to help prepare for summer.
